Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup melted chocolate for topping

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  2. Add the vanilla extract and milk, then mix until combined.
  3. Gradually incorporate the heat-treated flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  5. Press the dough evenly into a parchment-lined 8×8-inch baking pan.
  6. Melt the chocolate for the topping and spread evenly over the dough.
  7. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours until firm.
  8. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, substitute with a gluten-free flour blend. To make it vegan, use dairy-free butter and chocolate chips.
