Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs ground beef (or ground turkey)
- 1 packet French onion soup mix
- ¾ cup breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 ½ cups shredded Swiss cheese
- ½ cup caramelized onions
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, French onion soup mix, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings.
- Mix gently—overmixing can make the meatloaf tough.
- Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a greased crockpot.
- Set the crockpot to LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours, ensuring the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- In the last 30 minutes, top with caramelized onions and shredded Swiss cheese.
- Cover and let the cheese melt.
- Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free breadcrumbs. Try swapping Swiss cheese with cheddar or provolone for a different flavor.
