- 4 slices sourdough or rye bread
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Havarti or Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced dill pickles
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
Instructions
- Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer shredded cheddar, sliced dill pickles, and shredded Havarti or Swiss cheese.
- Sprinkle with garlic powder and smoked paprika for extra flavor.
- Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side facing out.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the sandwiches in the pan.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, pressing lightly with a spatula, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from heat, let cool slightly, and slice in half before serving.
Notes
For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce inside the sandwich before grilling.
