- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (80% lean)
- 3/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped onions (optional)
- 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers (optional)
For the Glaze:
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp mustard
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Soak breadcrumbs in milk for a few minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, soaked breadcrumbs, eggs, seasonings, and optional veggies.
- Shape into a loaf and place on a lined baking sheet or in a loaf pan.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- For the glaze, mix ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard in a saucepan. Simmer for 5-10 minutes.
- Brush the glaze onto the meatloaf during the last 10 minutes of baking.
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a healthier option, use ground turkey or add grated vegetables like zucchini for extra moisture.
