Description

A comforting and hearty Old Fashioned Goulash recipe, perfect for busy weeknights or family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil salted water and cook elbow macaroni until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the beef. Cook until onions are soft.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Add cooked pasta to the skillet and mix well.
  6. Optional: Transfer to a baking dish, top with shredded cheddar cheese, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes until cheese is melted.

Notes

For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chopped jalapeños.
