Description

A fun and creative dessert that blends the classic flavors of strawberry shortcake with the playful presentation of sushi. Perfect for parties, brunches, or special occasions!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for filling)
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Optional: Strawberry syrup, chocolate drizzle, crushed graham crackers or cookies

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Fold in flour, salt, and baking powder gently.
  4. Pour batter into the baking sheet and spread evenly.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown and let it cool completely.
  6. In a chilled bowl, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  7. Trim the edges of the sponge cake for a uniform shape.
  8. Spread whipped cream over the cake and arrange sliced strawberries on top.
  9. Roll the cake into a log using parchment paper.
  10. Slice into sushi-style rounds.
  11. Drizzle with strawberry syrup or melted chocolate and sprinkle crushed cookies if desired.
  12. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Notes

Store prepared rolls in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Slice and garnish just before serving for best texture.
